IT'S always more about the posing than the ponies at the Paspaley Polo in the City in Centennial Park. But this year gave Sydney's single ladies an extra incentive to dress in their finest - the international Argentinian polo player Baron Jakob Von Plessen.

The X Factor judge Ronan Keating was one of many spectators basking in the heat and atmosphere of the Veuve Clicquot champagne marquee, which was styled in a riviera beach theme.
He, at least, seemed to be concentrating on the game. ''Incredible ponies and athletes. They're machines,'' he said. The Paspaley marquee had furniture from the set of The Great Gatsby and was filled with society types and Paspaley family members.
