The Olivier Awards are being held at the Royal Opera House next Sunday 15th April. This is the first time the awards ceremony has been held in Covent Garden, despite the BAFTAs being held there for several years.

They will be hosted by Sweeney Todd’s Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton and let's hope the TV coverage will be better organised than last year.

It has just been announced that Ronan Keating will make his debut at the Royal Opera House as a special guest star. He will sing a number from his album When Ronan Met Burt which features songs by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. It would be appropriate if he sang a musical theatre number, and the album (which I like a lot and play frequently) features I’ll Never Fall in Again from Promises, Promises.

ONE of my favourite chats at The Olivier Awards was with Ronan Keating. He's much hotter in real life too, girls!
Ronan told me how difficult it was juggling being on The X Factor in Australia with having his kids in Dublin.

I had to ask Ronan whether he's a fan of The Voice or Britain's Got Talent, and he clearly prefers BGT...but you'll love his diplomatic answer!

I also asked him if he'd seen Louis Walsh's new hair and he knew nothing about it, saying he hasn't seen Louis for ages...interesting!

Everyone attending the Awards approaches up the same piece of red carpet, so it’s perfectly possible to turn around and discover you are walking next to, say, Hayley Atwell or Ronan Keating. The stars tend to arrive in waves, so the photographers (the privileged ones who aren’t corralled behind the barriers or at the end of the carpet with the journalists) mill about waiting for the next celebrity to do the step & repeat.

The presenter appeared overwhelmed by ''welcome back'' messages from singer Justin Bieber and a phalanx of stars at Sunday's Olivier Awards, including Ronan Keating, Barbara Windsor, Patrick Stewart and Lenny Henry.
